Reasoning for the Biblical account of Creation
It is good to become wise. If you marry someone, and take the marriage vows but over the years, never get to know him/her, then the marriage is meaningless. If we take our vows with God and gain salvation, but never get to now the nature of our creator; then isnt that also meaningless. The whole book of Proverbs makes it clear that we should try to become wise: see Proverbs 1:5-8, 2:5-11, 3:13, 4:7, 13:10 and 18:15. It also helps to know as much as possible if you are trying to evangelise. When Christians are asked about the creation and how to justify the Bible with what we see around us, they sometimes become confused.
Bible chronologists have concluded that the earth is a little over 6000 years old from a few different ancestry chains and from recorded histories. You can follow the ancestry of Adam up to Nebuchadnezzer who was king of Babylon between 604 and 561 B.C., and then take it from Greek history up to the present day. That makes sense if you are not persuaded by the evolution theory which opposes Genesis. If you find proof that the earth is older, then maybe that was how God created it. God created Adam as a fully grown man, not a baby. If the earth was created to appear brand new, then we would not have the choice between listening to God and putting faith in our surroundings and evolutionists. If this is the case then dinosaurs must have coexisted with man.
Starting at the beginning.
In Gen. 2:6 God describes a mist that watered the face of the ground. That job is now done by rain. In Gen. 1:6-10 God describes a firmament which divides the waters above from the waters below. The Hebrew word for firmament is 'raquia' and it means 'expanse'. The New Bible Commentary calls it the 'atmosphere'. That means that there was water both above and below the atmosphere. If there was a huge water canopy around the earth., then this would block out radiation from outer space, caused by stars, pulsars, etc... while the lower layer would keep the earth watered. Scientists say that ageing is caused by the small level of nuclear radiation that we all tolerate through our lives from our surroundings. The air pressure would be too high for it to rain, due to the weight of the water above. The higher air pressure would allow very large animals to grow. Some animals, e.g. Lizards dont stop growing until they die. Up until the flood, people usually lived 800-900 years. It is thought that this canopy came down to cause the flood. After the flood, life expectancy reduced exponentially as our surroundings absorbed the radiation and became in equilibrium with the level of radiation from outer space. Parts, and evidence of Noah's boat have been discovered in the mountains of Ararat. Many countries have a legend told through the generations about a family that built a boat to save themselves and the animals from a flood.
If the earth is a little over 6000 years old then dinosaurs and man must have coexisted together. There would have been more land or wilderness before the flood, making it easier for dinosaurs and man to coexist. Some dinosaurs exist today in unexplored parts of the world where man cannot kill them off.
Did Noah take them onto the boat with the other animals? I think that Noah took baby dinosaurs onto the arc. They take up less space, eat less, smell less and don't tend to bite your head off if they get angry!
The Congo swamp lands are 80% unexplored and the tribal people say that they live with dinosaurs up to 20 ft tall. If locals dont bury their dead deep enough, they will become unearthed and eaten by these creatures. There are cases each year where people have seen what look like Plesiosauruses in lakes. There are over 100 very deep mountainous lakes around the earth where sightings have been reported. 1100 reports alone have been made at Lock Ness in Scotland. People keep quiet because they do not want the acquire a label of insanity!
More importantly God talks about dinosaurs in the last chapters of Job, where God is humbling Job; basically saying "Your scared of this, then what about me!" This being the Leviathan (Job 41), which is described very well. At a sober guess, God is talking about the T-rex. From the text, it seems to me that God is talking about an animal familiar to Job.
The T-rex has a head the size of a car but a brain the size of a base ball, the rest is just plumbing. In job, this Leviathan breaths fire (Job 41:18-22). (Neesings is a word that was made up to translate breaths through the nose).
There are thousands of legends and stories of fire breathing dragons and how people have slayed ones that have been bothering their villages. If this was about 4000 years ago, then this is acceptable.
Also it is chemically possible for animals to breath fire. There is an insect called the 'Bombadier Beetle' that sprays extremely hot and caustic chemicals out of its rear, in rapid pulses at predators. It stores two reactive chemicals (hydroquinones and hydrogen peroxide, with oxidative enzymes) in separate sacks. When it expels them, they travel into one tube with an inhibitor to stop its rear from exploding. Right at the point where the chemicals leave, a fourth chemical is added which neutralises the inhibitor so that the chemicals react together to reach over 100 degrees C. Imagine a bigger version of that with different chemicals and put it into the Leviathans plumbing and Bobs your uncle! I do not believe that this bug could have just evolved. You would hear them all popping in the jungle, trying to get it right!
Also described in Job 40:15 is the Behemoth. This sounds like a Brackiosaurous to me!
In Job 38:16 God mentions the springs of the sea: scientists only discovered these in the early 1970's.
Creation makes more sense to me when I look at it this way. The only reason that it seemed strange to me is because at school we were programmed by evolutionists into thinking that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago. Many Christians are not sure how dinosaurs fit into history, and so the evil one uses the evidence of them against Christians. Wouldnt it be great to use dinosaurs to evangelise to children.
I am staying open minded about this and I am keen to hear other people's views on the matter, and I will update this page if I find more information.
